In a self-titled memoir to be released next week, former first lady Melania Trump says she supports women’s autonomy and right to control their own bodies — including abortions if they choose, a statement said Thursday.
Her stance adds another jolt to a dramatic presidential campaign season, with Melania Trump weighing in on a topic that will be a central issue in her husband’s re-election bid.
Melania Trump writes in the book that “it is imperative to ensure that women have autonomy” when deciding whether and when to have children. As quoted by The Guardian. The newspaper claims to have received an early copy of the book.
Those decisions should be based on women’s personal beliefs, not “based on government intervention or pressure,” she said.

Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is tantamount to denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief throughout my adult life.
NPR has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment on Melania Trump’s writings, and is seeking independent verification of the piece from the book’s publisher.
Abortion has long been a major issue in American political campaigns, but the 2024 race comes two years after the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson that there was no constitutional right to abortion.
Democrats used that controversial ruling as a rallying cry, insisting that key votes in the high court’s decision came from judges nominated by then-President Donald Trump.
The former president’s stance on abortion has come under close scrutiny as he seeks to regain the White House.
“After 50 years of failure, when no one came close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade, to the ‘shock’ of everyone,” Trump said in a speech last year. True social platform.
