President Joe Biden delivered a long-winded speech from former President Donald Trump accepting the Republican nomination late Friday. 13-post thread on X, with a fundraising appeal, calls out his competitor for various things he said.
“I’m stuck at home with COVID, so I had the unique misfortune of watching Donald Trump’s speech to the RNC,” Biden began. “What did he talk about?”
“Let’s start with this. The Donald said he ‘did a great job’ with Covid. Folks, this is the same guy who told people to inject bleach when over a million Americans died,” Biden said. (This is a recitation of the best-misleading, attack line Biden frequently attacks Trump with.)
President Trump went after him because “he bragged about hanging out with dictators.”
“It’s because Trump wants to be a dictator,” Biden said. “He said it himself.”
Biden attacked the former president on the economy and immigration, ribbing him three times on Plan 2025.
“He bragged about giving ‘huge tax cuts’ to his billionaire friends. But the deal is that his 2025 agenda will raise taxes on the middle class,” Biden posted.
“He said he would end inflation, but even the Wall Street Journal published an article that agreed: Trump’s plan for 2025 will cause more inflation,” Biden said. “My economic plan reduces spending and inflation.”
Biden later posted, “He said he wants to put immigrants into mass detention centers as part of his Plan 2025 agenda. It’s disgusting. Plan 2025 is extreme and dangerous. And it’s not who we are as a nation.”
In addition, Biden slammed his rival on electric vehicles for talking about Hannibal Lecter, saying, “Donald, Hannibal Lecter is not real” and criticizing the United Auto Workers for his 92-minute speech.
“Honestly, I thought the worst lie he told all night was when he said ‘finally’ and then kept going,” Biden joked. “I’ve heard enough.”
“If you’re with me, get involved in our campaign,” he concluded.
Earlier Friday, Biden said he was looking forward to campaigning against Trump and getting back on track.
