The Galaxy S24 Ultra, while keeping mostly the same camera hardware as its predecessor, may offer even better image and video quality with improved processing and AI assistance. Samsung may also borrow a feature introduced by Apple with the iPhone 15 series for the Galaxy S24.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra can take 24MP resolution photos like the iPhone 15
According to Tipster Ahmed Quader, the Galaxy S24 Ultra takes 24MP images instead of the default 12MP. Although his tweet was not very clear, we think he meant that the default image resolution on the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be 24MP instead of 12MP. The Photo Remaster feature in the built-in image editor offers more detail, while the built-in Gallery app offers three options: Portrait, Remaster and Delete. It also has an Expert RAW ND filter option to adjust lighting while preserving colors. However, this feature already exists.
If this claim is true, Samsung might have copied the feature from Apple and its latest iPhone series. The iPhone 15 series uses its 48MP camera to capture images at a binned 12MP resolution (after 4-in-1 pixel binning) and then combines it with the 48MP images to form a 24MP image. This method leaves more detail in the images without improving the file size by a large margin.
Samsung phones offer the ability to take 12MP, 50MP, and 200MP images from the primary camera. However, 50MP and 200MP images do not have as wide a dynamic range as 12MP images. Also, 50MP and 200MP images take up more space due to their larger file sizes. Therefore, Apple’s method provides a good balance between details and file size. You can do this with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Galaxy S24 Ultra Camera Specifications
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to feature a 200MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and OIS. The phone is rumored to be able to deliver image quality similar to 10x optical zoom, thanks to its 5x optical zoom lens and sensor crop from its 50MP camera.
