Those who lost the Mega Millions $1.35 billion jackpot could win millions more

Even if you don’t take home Friday’s mega million dollar $1.35 billion jackpot, you could still win millions in prizes.

In Tuesday’s final drawing, 16 ticket holders from across the United States won prizes ranging from $1 million to $3 million.

Winners match the numbers on five of the six white balls drawn – the odds are 1 in 12,607,306. Those odds are much better than matching all six balls to win the astronomical 1 in 302,575,350 jackpot. According to the confederation that runs the lottery.

Either way, you need a lot of luck to win: you have a one-in-a-million chance of being struck by lightning in a given year, rather than winning these prizes. According to the odds provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Total winnings for matching five white balls depend on whether you pay an extra $1 for the lottery’s MegaPillion bet, which multiplies winnings for non-jackpot prizes by two to five times the prize amount.

Before each Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday and Friday nights, the Megabill is drawn. For Tuesday’s draw, the megaclear was three, meaning three winners won $3 million instead of the standard prize of $1 million.

Other prizes can also be won. Below are the winnings for matching at least some numbers in a given draw, excluding the Megaplier:

  • Matching four white balls and a golden mega ball: $10,000
  • Matching four white balls: $500
  • Matching three white balls and a golden mega ball: $200
  • Matching three white balls: $100
  • Matching two white balls and a golden mega ball: $10
  • Matching a white ball and a golden mega ball: $2
  • Matching Gold Mega Ball: $2

In Tuesday’s draw, 215 tickets won at least $10,000 with four white balls and the Mega Ball. The lottery says 41 of those tickets are worth $30,000 each because they include the optional Megaplier.

The next drawing is scheduled for Friday at 11 p.m., ET The jackpot has not been won since October 14, 2022, and will continue to grow until the very lucky ticket holder matches all six numbers drawn.
